2012 chevrolet camaro convertible spied

A pre-production version of the upcoming 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible was caught on the road with its soft-top in the wrong position for this time of year in Michigan by a member of the Camaro5 forum.

The camera-phone scoopster claims the driver of the test car told him that the Camaro Convertible would be in U.S. dealer showrooms by next April, something that has already been confirmed by GM officials.

The Convertible variant of the latest Camaro gets a simple cloth top – most likely electrically operated – and small quarter windows at the back. It will be offered with the same V6 and V8 powertrains as the coupe model.

It’s also worth mentioning that the 2012 Camaro Convertible will make its way along with its coupe brethren to Europe with sales scheduled to start sometime around Spring of 2011.
